Reading Buddies

Each week the “Seniors” in the Lower School, our 3rd Graders, join their Kindergarten Reading Buddies for a read aloud session. Every 3rd Grader is partnered with a Kindergartener for the school year and they read together every Friday. The 3rd graders build fluency and practice reading aloud with expression and the Kindergarteners enjoy being read to one-on-one with a chance to ask questions, build vocabulary, and discuss the stories.
A real mentoring relationship develops. As our Kindergarteners are learning their way around the Lower School they each have a friend in the 3rd grade.
