Studying Immigration

12/08/2022

With the motto e pluribus unum (from many, one), Americans are reminded that they share the immigrant experience of beginning anew in the land of opportunity. Our 7th Graders studied with Ms. Rennell the waves of immigration into the United States and discovered the various reasons people immigrated. They learned that most people came to the United States for freedom – freedom of religion, freedom from poverty, freedom from persecution – and looked for opportunity.

The students then researched their own family’s path to the United States. Our 7th grade families came to the USA in the 2nd, 3rd, and 4th waves of immigrants. They came from Brazil, China, Croatia, Cuba, Ecuador, Germany, India, Indonesia, Ireland, Italy, Philippines, Poland, Scotland, and Syria. Families from many countries, make one 7th Grade Class.
