Each week the “Seniors” in the Lower School, our 3rd Graders, join their Kindergarten Reading Buddies for a read aloud session. Every 3rd Grader is partnered with a Kindergartener for the school year and they read together every Friday.

Kindergarteners select the books they are interested in and the third-grade buddy reads to them; some pairs even take turns reading. It is super fun for everyone!
The 3rd graders build fluency and practice reading aloud with expression and the Kindergarteners enjoy being read to one-on-one with a chance to ask questions, build vocabulary, and discuss the stories. Plus, they make new friends.
