Illuminating History

12/15/2024

The 5th grade was working on a lesson titled “Cultural Encounters” with the New York Historical Society. Ms. Leigh Poulos from the NYHS and our students were observing images, maps, documents, and artifacts to investigate early encounters of the Dutch settlers of New Amsterdam with members of the Lenni Lenape Tribe and other Native Americans.

The New York Historical Society produces in-school programs featuring a New-York Historical educator bringing replicas of artifacts, paintings, and  documents into your classroom to illuminate the stories of our collective past.

The New York Historical Society visits our students from the ECC through 8th grade with age appropriate history lessons.

This program is supported by the grants for enhanced curricular programs from the Epiphany School Foundation.
